Materials & Care

Here are a few easy tips to include in your daily routine to preserve the best quality of your Safran jewelry.

925 Sterling Silver

925 Sterling Silver is an alloy that consists of 92.5% pure Silver and 7.5% Copper. This union between metals is the foundation for its durability, so you can wear it everyday.

      • Keep away from chemicals including chlorine, salt water, cleaning agents, perfumes as well as excessive heat environments such as spas and natural hot springs.
      • Store away from air & heat. The closed box provided with your Safran jewelry, a small pouch or a plastic bag (other than polyvinyl plastic bags) can be good alternatives to preserving your silver jewelry.
      • We do not suggest using silver polishing liquid to clean your jewelry. Instead, we suggest using a soft (non-abrasive) dry cloth or a silver polishing cloth. This is sufficient in removing the time-caused dullness, also caused by pollution & dust, and bringing back the shining nature of silver. Note that this process will not remove surface scratches.
      • To optimize the long-term quality of your silver jewelry and prevent from external scratches, you might want to remove while cleaning, doing dishes, participating in sports and sleeping. Also, we suggest putting on your jewelry last when getting dressed.

Gold Plated

Gold plated is made by covering 925 sterling silver with a thin layer of gold. Therefore, gold plated pieces threaten to lose their brilliance over time. Following these simple steps can extend the durability of your gold plated jewelry.

      • Your gold plated jewelry should be kept away from chemicals including chlorine, salt water, cleaning agents, perfumes as well as excessive heat environments such as spas and natural hot springs.
      • To optimize the long-term quality of your gold plated pieces and prevent from external scratches, we suggest that you remove while cleaning, doing dishes, participating in sports and sleeping. We also suggest to put on your jewelry last when getting dressed.
      • We do not recommend cleaning your gold plated pieces with any kind of polishing liquid since these can damage the jewelry. Instead, you can simply use a soft and clean cloth.

14K Gold-Filled

14 karat gold-filled is made by bonding a solid layer of gold to a base metal. The process involves a high amount of heat and pressure, making the resulting piece a solid and durable jewelry.

      • Gold-filled can be cleaned using mild soap, warm water and a soft and clean brush or cloth.
      • Gold-filled does not tarnish or turn colors, however, to optimize the long-term quality of your jewelry and prevent from external scratches, you might want to remove while cleaning, doing dishes, participating in sports and sleeping. Also, we suggest to put on your jewelry last when getting dressed.

10K Gold

10 karat gold is an alloy of gold that contains 41.7% of pure gold.

      • 10K gold pieces can be cleaned using mild soap, warm water and a soft and clean brush or cloth.
      • 10K gold jewelry does not tarnish or turn colors. However, they are more fragile than gold-filled pieces due to their nature. In fact, pure gold itself is very soft. Therefore, to optimize the long-term quality of your jewelry and prevent from external scratches, we highly recommend that you remove while cleaning, doing dishes, participating in sports and sleeping. Also, we suggest putting on your jewelry last when getting dressed.
